    KALLITZ - Dukgesuip Album Cover

Award winning Cape Town rap sensation KALLITZ (pronounce 'Coloureds') hail from Bellville South and have taken the lead in Afrikaans rap and hip-hop, which is in desperate need of new blood.

KALLITZ is Boere and producer Dokter. They got together in 1998 and formed the group KALLITZ.

Their musical background is sound. Boere plays the piano, boasts a classical music background, won the 'Award for most creative Composer' at his music school in 1999 and was rated 'student with the highest potential musical ear'.

Dokter passed his Sound Engineering Diploma with 93% after quitting his medical studies at the University of Stellenbosch.

They started to produce their own tracks at Dokter's studio in Bellville South and presented them to www.africasgateway.com . This exposure got them a telephone call from Alexander Gregori of PR-, artist- and event management company Mel.Vent Communications, who offered them a management contract and exposure for KALLITZ grew ever since.

At the 2003 MFM Pool Party in Stellenbosch they virtually brought the house down, followed by club gigs in, among others, Mercury, Cape Town, Peter's Cellars in Paarl, and various Hip Hop parties by Stick8 Entertainment. Their first big Cape Town gig was at the Cape Town Festival's Night Vision event, where they played on the SAB Gig Rig. New World Inc, the event management company who organised the Night Vision events, were impressed and called KALLITZ' performance a 'highlight' of the festival and the co-operation with the group 'an absolute pleasure'.

In December 2003, the music video of KALLITZ' debut single 'Die Ding Ruk Mal' premiered on SABC 2's Geraas to rave reviews. This has led to considerable media exposure, on television, radio, print and the internet, including 'Hola' (Channel O), 'Unzipped' and 'Street Journal' (SABC 1), 'SABC News', 'Pasella', 'Morning Live', 'Master Magician Wolfgang Riebe', 'Dube on 2' and 'Pitstop' (SABC 2), 'The Weakest Link' (SABC 3), 'Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve Hofmeyr' and 'Kwela' (kykNET), YFM, 5FM, GHFM, Hype, FHM, SL, Beeld, City Press, Rapport and many others.

In June 2004, KALLITZ released their debut album, 'die ding ruk mal' on Mothermix Records, which featured 16 hot off the press traxx plus a music video, and was voted 'Album of the Month' by FHM, 'Album of the Week' by CD Wherehouse and 'Album of the Moment' by www.africasgateway.com. It also reached No 1 on the SA Rock Digest Album Charts and won 'Best Hip Hop Album' at the 2005 SABC GMT Music Awards.

2005 started with a bang, with KALLITZ album reaching the Top 5 in the www.samp3.com 2004 Download Charts against competition of well-established artists such as 2004 SAMA award winner for best selling recording artist, Steve Hofmeyr.

With invitations to play at the Levi'sŪ AIDS benefit concert 'Rage for the Revolution', Maties Rag, Stellenbosch Woordefees, the KKNK's 'Kaktus Oppie Vlaktes', and the Rittelfees, among others, 2005 also saw KALLITZ establishing themselves on South Africa's major festival circuit.

KALLITZ latest achievements include chart entries on MWEB's Download Charts, reaching the Top Ten with their songs 'die ding ruk mal', 'die ding ruk mal REMIX' and 'oppie yaat', as well as NUMBER ONE with 'situasies' and 'Suikerbossie'.

'Suikerbossie' topped the MWEB Download Charts for four weeks solid!

March 2006 saw the release of KALLITZ' second album 'Dukgesuip', which includes their version of the Afrikaans classic 'Suikerbossie', which already went to No 1 on the MWEB download charts, and 'Wat Gaan Ons Maak', a collaboration with South Africa's best selling recording artist Steve Hofmeyr.

The single 'Kaapse Paatie' received the most votes ever in a GHFM listeners poll.
