Bianca Le Grange’s long awaited Afrikaans album is a album full of surprises and boasts twelve original catchy songs which varies from jazz, contemporary, rock to pop.
The title Met My Hart en My Siel is precisely what the album is all about - the music and lyrics come from Bianca’s heart and soul.
Bianca - in co-operation with Jerome Bezuidenhout and Sammy de Waal - wrote most of the songs on the new album and she produced for the first time, she tells excitedly.
She describes the album as “an adult contemporary with a little bit of jazz, a bit of rock and pop.” This is her second Afrikaans album (her previous Afrikaans album Dis My Somer was released in 2005) and her third album up to date.
“I decided to do a full Afrikaans album, because I love Afrikaans so much,” she says.
She developed a new appreciation for Afrikaans while she and a few other female singers staged the music production Nuwe Generasie Divas.
Her songs are about a variety of subjects which includes new opportunities, the street where she grew up, love, the Soccer World Cup-fever, a woman who is in an abused relationship, two women - one older than the other - who fight for the same guy and Johannesburg.
The Soweto String Quartet supports her on Ole yo and she also combines her talent in Ek is daai vrou with the renowned singer Jennifer Jones . She worked two months on the album and other seasoned artists like David Klassen (drums), Rian van Rensburg (percussion) and Rikus Nel (banjo, accordion and concertina) support Bianca on the album.
Bianca, who drew the attention of the public when she was a finalist in the first South African Idols, also strut her stuff as a coach on SABC2’s Supersterre. She listens to jazz, pop and R&B and her favourite singers include Alicia Keyes, Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughn.
She performs regularly at functions and corporate events all over the country and was chosen one of the sexiest women in 2004 by the magazine FHM.
She is an asset to any musical production - in 2004 she shined in Cinderella and in 2008 she played the leading role in the pantomime Show White.
She performed in other countries like Germany, Netherlands, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
