Paint was formed in February 2010. 3 months previous to that, the 3 musicians had began jamming weekly - with no other purpose but for the fun and love of creating music. One day they decided to name it.
Nelius Nortje, a jazz scholar at TUT, uses his classical and jazz training to bend sound into art with catchy hooks which grab the listeners attention faster than a centerfold in a classroom.
Jade Abbott and her booming bass frequencies humble the spectrum as she parades around the stage in a frenzy of passionate energy and love for the magic which is driven and inspired by Morné (Mojo) Barnardt, the golden frame around the art. Paint released their 100% independent album 'Painting with Sound' in May 2011.
About Painting With Sound:
The album is 100% independent. Basically what this means is that is was recorded, produced and Mixed by Nelius at Nelius' studio, record label free. The artwork was done by the drummer 'Mojo'. The only out sourcing was the mastering.
The album is what the band created within the first year of being together and is but a step to greater things.
