Keeno Lee - "Revolution"
Press Release
Funk 'n B is what they're calling it.
A genre combining old school Funk with New School R&B. Add some
great songwriting, catchy hooks, smart lyrics, incredible production
and heaps of personality, and we have "Revolution," the debut
album of singer/songwriter/actor Keeno Lee.
With the colossal first single off the album, "Your Man" catching
the attention of every music and broken-hearted lover, "Revolution"
was bound to be one of the highly anticipated albums of 2011.An album
that took over 2 years to come to fruition, authenticates the artist's
maxim, that it's not always the quick and smooth process that leads
to the greatest product. On Keeno Lee's journey, he met a few talented
people along the way. Producers and writers such as Mr Mallum (Danny
K, Young Nations),Chad Saaiman (Loyiso, Ron "Neff-U" Feemster),
Ameen Harron (HHP, Zubs, RJ Benjamin),Kyle Petersen, Lester Hein(Chad
Saaiman, Byron Clarke) and Leighton Moody. Working song by song, along
with the executive direction of the artist himself, "Revolution"
was created.
The latest single "Moonlight" featuring Youngsta, made an
instant impact on Cape Town radio, and lead to the record going all
the way to Number 1 on the Heart 104.9FM S.A Top 10 Charts, as well
as receiving good rotation on the other stations.
The album takes you on an odyssey of stories of love, pain, desire,
lust, dreams and success, mostly written from experiences the artist
endured, and experiences the fans will find comfort in, and be able
to relate to, with no effort required. The poetically humane nature
of the writing on this record is one of it's greatest strengths, and
will lead to women wishing their men had said it that way, and men finally
finding the right words to say.
Songs like "Wonderful," "For Your Love" and "It's
On" will get listeners moving immediately with it's big vocal and
musical production, whereas "Your Man," "Someday,"
and "8 Letters,3 Words" show a more soulful and passionate
side to Keeno Lee, indicative of his love for Neo Soul...
Keeno Lee has also always had an adulation for soulful house music,
from listening and dancing to it, to eventually performing improvised
vocals alongside several house DJ's, and this very love for the genre
is epitomized in the instant classic, "City Dreams," produced
by House music stalwart Leighton Moody, who also produced "Oceans
of Love." Both are being chased for licensing deals for dance compilations
in South Africa and around the world.
"Revolution" is an album for listeners who appreciate the
funk and enjoy dancing whilst singing along to carefully crafted melodies
and lyrics, all born at the hand of one of South Africa's most unique
and still underrated talents, the forerunner of the Revolution, Keeno
Lee.
