SAMA 2010: BEST INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM
Guy's third album comes together like others bearing the substance of creativity elapsing months if not years. Unlike most of its contemporaries it captured the essence of a collaboration spanning continents in the making yet a cohesive studio feel in the delivery. Its been pedestaled in the press as being in a class of its own and of the best albums ever to emerge from South Africa (Acoustic Image).
Beautifully textured with a whole array of instrumentation; acoustic steel and nylon strung guitars, sitar, tampura, harmonium, polypipe, grand piano, lapsteal guitar, dobro, percussion and more, all of these played by an equally impressive line up of established musicians. Piers Fuccini, Tony Cox, Nibs van der Spuy, Dan Patlansky, Andy Turrell, Syd Kitchen and Martin Wolfaardt (to name just a few) lent their considerable talents to the project. In the final analogy its an eclectic largely instrumental album brilliantly crafted, honestly recorded and engineered.
