They were labeled hooligans and devil worshipers by the Afrikaans establishment, celebrated as liberators by Afrikaans youth. The nationwide 'Voëlvry Toer' was banned from almost every Afrikaans university campus. Why? Because they were young Afrikaners who stood up and stated through their music their rejection of the legacy bequeathed to them by their forebears. This album captures the spirit of the times with live performances by Andre Letoit (Koos Kombuis), Johannes Kerkorrel en die Gereformeerde Blues Band and Bernoldus Niemand (James Phillips) with his band Die Swart Gewaar.
