Dance, You’re On Fire formed in mid 2007 when five friends came together to start a new musical endeavour. Within 6 months the band started playing shows around Gauteng and had released a self-produced self-titled EP that Blunt Magazine dubbed “a genre-bending release, featuring five progressive, unpredictable, dynamic rock songs.”
After playing numerous successful shows in their hometown of Johannesburg, the band embarked on a tour to Cape Town in August ’08 and played to enthusiastic audiences alongside New Altum. Upon return to Johannesburg the band enjoyed many more successful gigs, including Woodstock 10.
After a slight line-up change at the end of 2008, the band now consists of Nic Simmonds (Vocals, Keyboards), Tom Manners (Vocals, Guitars, Samples), Adrian Erasmus (Guitars, Samples), Paul van der Walt (Bass) and James Andrews (Drums). Each member comes from a successful background in the South African music scene and contributes his own unique brand to the band’s music with influences that range from Circa Survive to Bob Dylan.
Dance, You’re On Fire is a band true to the love of music and, with great plans for the future, will entertain crowds and increase their ever-growing fan base.
