Delta Blue's much awaited fourth album ‘Heaven’ is being released in October 2005. Having their own unique approach to the Blues, mixing Motown funkyness with old school country Blues, ‘Heaven’ offers a rooted ‘real thing’ sound. The magic of Delta Blue lies in their honesty and reverence of the blues in their live performances. To capture this ‘in the moment’ experience, 11 of the 13 tracks were recorded LIVE at ‘Die Boer’ in Durbanville.
Delta Blue has been responsible for introducing Blues to thousands of South Africans for the past 6 years. Vocalist Gerald Clark's voice has grown immensely and with changes in the band line-up, their sound has progressed to maturity. Gerald and Schalk van der Merwe (bass) are the only remaining members of the early days. Henry Steel on guitar joined a few years ago and new members include Tim Rankin (drums) and Jann Krynauw (keyboards).
‘Heaven’ is packaged in a beautiful digi-pack format with intricate artwork and the band has given attention to style in choosing to perform in white suits, with symbols of golden roses as added detail.
The album consists of 7 original tracks, as well as 6 selected timeless Blues covers. Delta Blue introduces you to the ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’, takes you on a ride to witness ‘The Tequila Suicides’, offers you ‘One bourbon, One scotch and One beer’ and ends off the album by sounding just plain heavenly on ‘Ain't going to heaven.'
