The release of 33 sea sides
completes the full collection after the release of 33 A-sides
and 33 B-Sides earlier this year. The 3 double cds contain
more than a 100 songs written and performed by Anton Goosen.
It is special in its offering in representing the diverse and legendary
musical contribution that Goosen has made to South African Music. Tracks
on the Cds include his commercial hits, as well as his more obscure
cult songs and gives an oversight of Goosen`s versatility in creating
music in just about every genre, in Afrikaans: from boerefolk to rock,
from reggae to ballads.
Anton Goosen's “Jantjie”
in 1976 was the start of a successful career and next year, in 2009,
Goosen will be celebrating his 33rd year in the SA Music Industry.
“The triple
collection 33’s, in other words 33 a-sides (liedjieboer treffers),
33 b-sides (getye van verandering) and 33 sea-sides (om te rock
‘n roll), are collectively
the back catalogue of my liedjieboer (song peddler) career. There are
more than 100 selected songs available from the full spectrum on 3 double
cd’s. For me it is a wonderful milestone and event and pretty much
sums it all up as I will be celebrating my 33rd
year in the industry in 2009.” Anton Goosen.
CD 1 of 33 sea sides
contains some of Goosen's most beautiful love ballads including
“hei hei klein katryntjie” and “hartlam.”
The composition of CD 2 showcases the versatile productivity that
Anton`s music has delivered through the years. The collection ends off
with the beautiful “swerwer”; a song that Gian Groen has dedicated
to Anton Goosen – “kom bly by die see, dis al wat ek oor het om
vir jou te gee.”
“om te rock ‘n roll is just a state of mind”
